Rice Paper Scissors, Fitzroy MELB

Friday nights are such a well deserved moment for those who have endured an entire 5 days of work/ stress - imagine being able to let all your fears mellow away at the sight of twinkling dim lights overshadowing a much needed cocktail followed by hypnotic, yet soothing, music in the background.

Such is life for us working peeps. Could have popped by Rice Paper Scissors's second outlet in the CBD but heck, wanted to have a little peace away from crowds which made this place a much more suitable location for catch ups.

I do suggest arriving a little early here as well, just in case the restaurant might be full packed for the night - no more disappointments, especially on Fridays! Menu is ala tapas aka sharing across the table, a great way to sample most of the menu.

Pork and prawn skewers - meat skewers were on point in terms of taste and falls off easily from the skewer, a task that is often messy when the meat refuses to budge. Dipping sauce had a subtle hit of chilli and captured those Asian seasoning elements such as  fish sauce, soy sauce and lime, pretty well.

Pear bellini - why not.

Mushroom salad - oh my goodness, this was the bomb. Loved how the mushrooms were sauteed to perfection and dressed well. Slightly spicy but bearable nonetheless.

Grilled calamari - another dish that I became quite fond of the moment it touched my palate. I have never been a fan of tapas as I personally feel that often times, portion sizing is questionable. However, Rice Paper Scissors is an exception - by the end of the entire meal, the bunch of us were filled to the brim and were extremely satisfied.
Terrarium - Vietnamese coffee mousse with a peanut and chocolate soil. Smooth textured, light and packed with a good amount of caffeine, this was a perfect number to end our meal.

Overall, I was an extremely satisfied patron that Friday night.
